Pitching session

Today, our group was supposed to meet in the morning to discuss the details of the presentation (Raphael and I had prepared a powerpoint but we did not have any news from our teammates).

The clock was ticking and Stephen and David were not there.

So we were only two, with Raphael for the pitching session.

We were a little nervous because we were counting on our teammates to explain if needed what we meant, as we are not very comfortable in speaking English. It is possible that we were not well understood.

However, despite the stress, I think we did well.

The jury enjoyed the fact that we added sounds to illustrate the atmosphere of the game.
On the other hand, the slides from our powerpoint were not really easy to read and we should have added more concept arts.

This is the end of this module. I enjoyed it. It was exciting to imagine and design his own game.
It was also an opportunity for me to make an oral presentation in English.

In conclusion, I would say that this module has been very rewarding in terms of research, writing, and discussion of ideas. I also feel better about myself communicating in English.

Week 11 - GDD Layout, spellchecking, rewording...

This week, we worked hard making the document more professionnal (rewording, spellchecking ...).

Unfortunately, we were only two, with Raphael, working on the details of the document.
I would have appreciated a Scottish member of the group took a look at the grammar and spelling of the document, but never mind. We were able to submit the document on time.

I am very satisfied with our work, I love the concept of completely different story according to the the player's choice.
The action would also be present with titanic battles.

It remains now to get ready for the pitch. As we are french, Raphael and I are a little nervous. We never really made a presentation in English, but we will do our best.

Week 10 - Last cut-scenes

We also added some cut-scenes details, mainly for the endings.
Here is an example of the "evil side" ending :

After defeating the archangels, the camera moves slowly towards the hero, and stops on his face.
He is completely corrupted and transforms into something evil.
His rage explodes and he flies away, devastating the city in his path.
An apocalyptic storm hits the city.
We see the hero make an incantation, which opens a portal.
Through the gap we see a huge creature, but we only can distinguish its two red eyes.

Week 10 - Pause menu description

This week we made a description for the pause menu.
When the game is paused, the player is able to rotate the camera.
This menu is an exclusive feature of the single player mode.
It will mostly be used to interact with the companion or use special powers.

Week 9 - Menu interface

We also worked on the main menu concept art :

Main menu

We though about a dynamic background that would change according to the hero's karma, in the story mode. This kind of destroyed city could be an example of a "evil side" save in story.
